Hiking the Dolomites

HIKING THE DOLIMITES Parco Naturale Puez Odle

If you want to hike in style (beds to sleep in, delicious meals, pints along the way...) hit the Dolomites - We used holimites.com to arrange our Refugio accommodations - they met us in Badia the night before our journey to pass along our reservations tickets as well as all of our maps. We left luggage and our rented car in Badia at our hotel.  The next morning Holimites drove us to Santa Cristina for the start of our hike. The hike was 3 nights and 4 days and ended back in Badia.  Met wonderful people along the journey, but also plenty of solitude. A classic.
  • Trailhead:

Started in Santa Cristina on Str. Plesdinaz (46.561620, 11.720902) - use this address for a drop-off (39047 Santa Cristina Gherdëina, South Tyrol, Italy) and then head up the hill and catch the trail in about 1/4-mile.

  • Difficulty:

Tough, but you only have to carry clothes and snacks, as there are places to eat along the way and you stay in refugios.

  • Aesthetic Rating:

As good as it gets - the only thing missing are mountain lakes- the Dolimites are too steep with a lack of any flat space to support high altitude lakes.

  • Distance:

    Day 1: 6.2 miles Day 2: 6 miles Day 3: 7.5 miles Day 4: 6.5 miles

  • Type:

Overnight - sleep and eat in Refugios
