Chief Peak

Chief Peak

Pre-2020 Super Bowl hike on the aptly named Chief Peak (the Chiefs would later win the Super Bowl against the 49ers). The first 2 - 2.5 miles is an uphill slog on a fire road with not much to see (4WD can access the fire road via a permit system). Once you reach the ridge it is well worth the price of admission. The ridge opens up to views of the Pacific, the Channel Islands, Ojai, and because it was a clear day, the edges of the Santa Monica Range.
  • Trailhead:

Rose Valley Campground Road 22W15 - I parked outside and walked to the trailhead (34.53180819894096, -119.18318914566282)

  • Difficulty:

    Easy (but long)

  • Aesthetic Rating:

Beautiful once the ridge is reached

  • Distance:

    9.1 miles out and back

  • Type:

    Dayhike
