Delamar Mountain

Delamar Mountain (near Fawnskin)

The third hike of my HPS tri-peak Sunday (the first 2 being Silver Peak and Gold Mountain.) I came from Gold Mountain, taking the 18 to Fawnskin and turned right on Rim of the World Dr/3N14 (which is paved at first then turns to a navigable road for 4WD and 2WD alike). About 1.8 miles in you approach 3N12 and make a right (on 3N12.) Go another 1.8 miles to a saddle by the PCT. I parked about .3 miles down because there was ice on the road and didn't want to risk the action in the 2WD. Once I reached the saddle, I accidentally started on the PCT and then corrected. You basically go directly up the hill at first (to the right of the PCT) and eventually hit a trail. I may have seen the trail sooner but the ground was covered in pine needles. The hike is on the northern part of the mountain so you are in shade the majority of the time (plus there are tons of trees.) Some ice/snow on the ground but nothing that required microspikes. A short but steep hike. A large rock pile at the top marks the peak (peak registry was in a ziploc bag covered by other rocks. Time to upgrade to a better container!)
