Eureka Dunes

Hike to the high point of the Eureka Dunes

A classic family climb to the top of Eureka Dunes in Death Valley National Park. At 700 feet they are the highest dunes in California. The hike is about 2.0 miles round trip.  Obviously fully exposed to the sun and wind - we chose to do it at sunrise while much of the route up could be done in the shade.
  • Trailhead:

Start from anywhere along the Eureka Dunes Dry Camp.

  • Difficulty:

It's a butt-burner up the soft sand but you hardly notice with all such spectacular vistas.

  • Aesthetic Rating:

As good as it gets in the desert!

  • Distance:

    2 mile round trip

  • Type:

    Dayhike
