Five Fingers (Aquila Peak)

Five Fingers (Aquila Peak)

Starting temp at 34 degrees - day after a snow storm so treated with snowy views of the Southern Sierra.  We made this a shorter hike with a steep 4WD drive up to the saddle just below the Fingers.  We hiked up between the 3rd and 4th finger and then stayed on the east side of the ridge as we traversed over to the Fifth Finger, also known as Aquila Peak.
  • Trailhead:

Need a high clearance 4WD to get to the saddle just below the Fingers at 35.687359, -117.901659. Alternative trailheads at http://www.hundredpeaks.org/guides/01i.htm.

  • Difficulty:

Class III chute to achieve the summit ridge and some fun ridge scrambling.

  • Aesthetic Rating:

We had stellar views looking up into the Owens Peak Wildreness.

  • Distance:

    1.5 miles round trip.

  • Type:

    Dayhike
