Haddock Mountain, located in the Sespe Wilderness of Los Padres National Forest, provides wide ranging views - from the Pacific Ocean, to the Channel Islands, to the Santa Monica Range (if you look really close), to Mount Pinos, and the Cuyama Badlands. Combined with a short trip to Reyes Peak, this hike provides plenty of scenery, tree variety, and a nice ridgeline to Haddock. Getting to the trailhead encompasses some slow going on a dirt road but 2WD can easily make it provided you follow recommended (required) speed limits. This hike was done in late November (it was about 22 degrees at start) but would like to try this in the early spring too.
