Mount Russell

Mount Russell in Lake Perris State Recreation Area

A mix of horse trail, bushwhack and use trail up this LPC Peak. About a 4-mile round trip from the Hunter's Parking Lot in the State Recreation Area. We arrived at the Rec Area at 6:10am (opens at 6am), the ascent was cool most of the way, but it was already hot on the way down. Probably a better hike in the late fall to early spring.  You can also approach the peak from outside the Rec Area if you want to get an earlier start. Mt. Russel is the high point of the Bernaconi Hills and has good views of major mountain ranges to the north and east.
