Parker Peak

Hiking Parker Peak and Hatchet Peak in Sequoia National Forest

Southern Sierra peakbagging - if some bushwhacking and solitude are your jam, then this peak is for you.  From the "trailhead" At Parker Meadow, off M-50, take Forest Road 22SO4 north.  Lots of primitive camping back around Parker Meadow, but you will need a high clearance 4WD for the last 1/2 mile if you want to camp at the actual trailhead.  The hike is short but completely cross-country with some bush-whacking.  We stayed pretty true to the ridge on the way up (which allows for a nice rest stop on a granite outcropping, but near the top of the ridge the bushwhacking becomes thick (avoidable on the way down if you stay north of the ridge and traverse back west to get the ridge back down).  Summit "block" had an old plastic registry box.
