Queen Mountain

Queen Mountain in Joshua Tree

The third of 3 peaks on 12/4/2020 (Eureka and Warren being the first two.) With over 1000 ft of prominence you can see a large portion of Joshua Tree. Desert peaks provide hikers with a mild approach and then sudden uplift for the final ascent. Queen is no exception. Some scrambling near the top if you choose to take that path (I did!). There are plenty of cairns on this trail (some accurate/some not so) but route finding is pretty straightforward.
  • Trailhead:

About 2 miles off Big Horn Pass Road in Joshua Tree (34.035144, -116.107833)

  • Difficulty:

Easy for the first mile, moderate the second mile.

  • Aesthetic Rating:

Great views from the top. While I enjoyed the geology, it might be better during wildflower season.

  • Distance:

    4 miles out and back

  • Type:

    Dayhike
