Slide Mountain

Slide Mountain and Lookout

Slide Mountain/Lookout can easily be spied from the 5 freeway. Getting to the start of the trail entails exiting the 5 and heading down the old Golden State Highway. Once you reach the gated off area and park, it's a 1.75 miles walk along Piru Creek to the actual trail. Saw some wildlife in the creek but otherwise it's fairly boring until you get to Slide Peak trail and start the ascent, which is a pretty hefty 2600ft to the peak and lookout. It was overcast on this day but not enough to obscure the views of surrounding peaks and Pyramid Lake.
