Taylor Dome

Taylor Dome

Fun peak bag in the Domeland Wilderness of the Sequoia National Forest - what was described as a somewhat boring peak bag on many trip reports, was anything but boring- it's a great constellation of domes to explore with spectacular views.  The easiest route up the peak is likely the west ridge, which can be climbed from a saddle along the Taylor Meadow trail (Pass 8080+). This is all class 1-2 until the final summit block, which is easy third class.  This is the route in our video.
  • Trailhead:

Taylor Meadow trailhead in Big Meadow - the trailhead is located at 35.86793, -118.32659

  • Difficulty:

Easy Class III to achieve the summit. If you choose to do the south summit as well, as did in the video, plan for some fun Class IV.

  • Aesthetic Rating:

The views extending into the Domeland Wilderness are fantastic.

  • Distance:

    6 miles round trip

  • Type:

    Dayhike
