White Mountain Peak

White Mountain Peak

This...hike...is....a....slog. Don't get me wrong. It's beautiful and has views of the Sierras that you cannot get anywhere else but wow! It wears on you up at 11-14K feet. The 90 minute drive up requires a 4WD. You may be able to make it with a 2WD but by the time you get to the trailhead you may only have 2 wheels. We drove up on a Friday night and camped at the trailhead hoping to acclimate. My snoring and the altitude (11k!) didn't lead to much sleep. Woke to a fantastic sunrise and started early. Very little navigation skills needed on this one. Follow the road to the peak. On the way enjoy the expansive views laid out before you until your last ascent leading to the peak at 14,242. There was wind at the top but nothing like what other trip reports had encountered.
